I’ve never counted the official releases of OVERKILL. On the occasion of this review, I discovered that with the very good “The Wings of War” they reached their 19th album! This itself shows how loyal they are to what they are doing! Listening to it you understand that they still “thrash around” very well! To make it clearer, they continue playing very good thrash metal with a lot of heavy metal and punk-hardcore influences.

The compositions have either up-tempo or mid-tempo rhythms, with Blitz’s voice being as always hysterical and the bass of D.D. Verni, along with the drums of the newly-acquired Jason Bittner (ex-Shadows Fall, Anthrax, Flotsam and Jetsam) making the earth tremble.

The thrash metal storm begins with “Last Man Standing”, which grabs you from the face with his terrific refrain and continues with “Believe In The Fight” where you enjoy listening to Blitz singing the lyrics as well as the gang style backing vocals. The sequel is analogous and contains songs that will surely make you feel good.

We did not expect OVERKILL to discover the wheel. What we wanted was to have some fun and the “bats” offered it generously.
