MASSACRE’s return in 2021 has created great excitement and expectations, as the impact of “From Beyond” is huge, even after so many years. So, Kam Lee and his companions tried to fulfill these expectations with the album “Resurgence”, whose honesty satisfied all fans of old school Death Metal. Besides the full length album, the band those two years band has written a lot of music, some of which was released as singles. This year however, the Americans decided to present us more new songs with an EP entitled “Mythos”.

Lyrically MASSACRE continue to deal with the fantastic horror literature of HP Lovecraft, as we can figure immediately from the very beautiful cover. Musically they continue with the Florida’s classic Old School Death Metal sound. The four compositions are driving in a frantic hostile rhythm with Kam Lee’s throat having a dominant role and the guitars sounding like tank rails, while the production has given the required power to the compositions. The overall sound of “Mythos” as one can easily understand is a furious battering ram and its much more addictive than “Resurgence”, as its short duration contributes positively, without creating a sense of repetition. It should also be noted that the opening song “Behind The Serpent’s Curse” features Anders Odden, singer of the Norwegians CADAVER.

The fact that MASSACRE manages to offer us a new release, just six months after their previous one, with the same lineup and without anyone having drama and fights with Kam Lee, is really impressive! So, here we find a remarkable EP of old school Death Metal, showing that the band has found a stability, managing to overcome in quality the previous album “Resurgence” Surely, all the fans of Death Metal who see new releases with MASSACRE’s logo on them, can be really satisfied!
