Two years after “Adrasteia” album and a year after the split with YOTH IRIA, KAWIR returns with a new release for a very important purpose! All the income sales will be donated to the restoration of the founder and guitarist of the band Therthonax, who has had a successful heart surgery and needs our financial support in order to stand strong on his feet again and recover. The release is entitled “War of the Giants” and is available exclusively through the band’s bandcamp page at a small-symbolic price.
The EP contains three new compositions. Those songs will also appears on the band’s upcoming album. If those songs’ quality describes the rest of the album, then we will be dealing with one of KAWIR’s best releases! Those three songs have furious Black Metal rhythms with an amazing production. The sound on the guitars is really crushing, while Porphyrion’s vocals dominate. Of course, the ancient Greek-folk elements (band’s characteristic), enhance the atmosphere by traveling us to the ancient past. We should also mention the participations of Dis Pater (MIDNIGHT ODYSSEY) and Jim Mutilator (MEDIEVAL DEMON, YOTH IRIA) in keyboards and screams respectively. Mutilator’s voice in the song “Hecantoncheires” (one of the best compositions KAWIR have ever written), combined with the emotional aura of the song, just shudder the listener!
As a conclusion, this EP is a magical Black/Folk Metal pilgrimage. In combination with the “sacred” purpose of this release, the acquisition of the “War of the Giants” is essential. Now we await the band’s next full length release. We wish Therthonax a speedy recovery. Get well soon our friend and be strong and cheerful, as you always are!
