GRAB is one of the many notable projects of Wrath (Nikos Spanakis). DODSFERD is always his main band, but as a restless spirit that he is and with the germ of creation always present, he constantly wants to explore new paths regarding the music but also the art in general .So, in 2005 he founded GRAB in Athens. This band was founded as he stated “as an eerie project, with the aim of opposing the falseness that the scene had created until then”! After the release of their first record in 2008 with the name “Plague” the band was reactivated in Crete in 2017 and “The Inevitable Filth of Mankind” is only their second full length record.

The band consists of Wrath (vocals), Bacchus (guitars), Goatlord (bass), N.D. (drums) and they play Black Metal or else Black ‘N’ Roll as there are some punk elements present! Of course, as their main influence I would say that are DARK THRONE of “Ravishing Grimness” and “Plaguewielder”. Therefore, they are completely different from the sound of DODSFERD, which is what I think as main point. Also a completely old school feeling is present all over the record. Finally, there are several thrashy influences, which will remind you of old SODOM, especially in the first track “Standing Breathless from a Structured Space”, which in my opinion is the best of the album.

Only six compositions, but all at the same high level, are contained in the album with a total duration of about 40 minutes, which means that it is quite long for the specific genre. But no song is like the next and there are many changes in their rhythm, sometimes slow, sometimes fast, sometimes very fast, although they avoid continuous blastbeats that might tire the listener. The guitars are very dynamic and sound crystal clear like as everything else on the record. This is really an impressive production! Wrath literally gives a recital with his performances and with the hatred, rage, but also pessimism that comes out of his voice! Lyrically, he again deals with misanthropy but also with other “classic” black metal themes. Released by F.Y.C. (Fucking Your Creation) label in a deluxe digipack including a booklet that contains all the lyrics. A “must have” release for the idiom…
