Finnish Melodic Death Metallers WOLFHEART, have released their new single “Ancestor” featuring KILLSWITCH ENGAGE’s Jesse Leach! The track is taken from the band;s forthcoming album “King Of The North”, due for release on September 16th through Napalm Records.
“Ancestor”, is the album’s top frostbitten anthem, unleashing WOLFHEART’s most crushing blast beats and cutting-edge vocal performances.
Tuomas Saukkonen comments on the song: “Finnish mythology is full of nordic gods, tales and beliefs but there is only one king of the forest and because of the that a song about this feared and honoured beast is an ideal first single. Musically diverse from blast beats to majestic chorus with legendary Jesse Leach bringing the song into a whole new level and lyrically diving deep into the album theme.”
“King Of The North” taking every aspect of WOLFHEART’s trademark sound of colossal melodies, growling vocals and driving drum rhythms to searing new levels. Each song on King Of The North is dedicated to a different story of Finnish mythology – underlined by WOLFHEART’s grand, crushing songwriting and production. “The King” for instance, tell the tale of the forest god with horns and pianos accompanying heavy guitar riffs and solos, before raising the energy levels once more on the relentless “Cold Flame” featuring Karl Sanders of legendary Extreme Metal group NILE.
Tuomas Saukkonen said about the album: “After ‘Wolves Of Karelia’ it made a lot of sense to keep writing themed albums, but this time I wanted to travel much further in history than WWII and went straight to the stories about the creation of the Norse world, the old gods of the North and the majestic nature. The colorful theme also inspired me to write the most musically diverse WOLFHEART album and also to bring the widest variety of vocals than ever before, giving Lauri and Vageliss their well-deserved spotlight.”
