Third full length album for TREYHARSH and for those who are not familiar with them, hereby you could find the necessary information. TREYHARSH are French and in more specific they are located in Lille. They have been active for over a decade and they play a mix of Death and modern Thrash Metal, with the Death Metal elements clearly dominating their sound. They recently initiated changes in their lineup, as the new bass player joined the band for the composition and recordings of “Eternal Cycles” two years ago.

In comparison to their two previous albums “Reverse” and “When The Sun Sets In The East”, their sound has evolved significantly, as the roughness of their music has been enriched by few modern elements, while the production also contributes to this specific direction, as it is “cleaner” than the one in the past. Raw by choice, in “Eternal Cycles” and its 11 tracks, TREYHARSH are more or less influenced by CANNIBAL CORPSE, ABORTED, NAPALM DEATH and early SEPULTURA, with a clear preference to mid-tempo rhythmic tracks. Listening to the guitars we can find here and there some Sludge elements, which I like because they “break” the monotony of the rhythmic parts.

There is clearly a certain vibe of energy, but what I notice as I keep on listening to the album is that there are many ups and downs as well. We can spot really good compositions, for example the great “There’s Snow In Hell”, however there are many songs that are sitting synthetically in mediocrity and just because most of them have this constant mid-tempo groove, TREYHARSH can not keep you highly interested. In conclusion, there is definitely the willingness and certain dynamics, but the result is one-dimensional and many of the ideas presented by the band, are already produced over and over again from other bands.
