THE RIFF-MACHINE
Hello metal brothers!
This is Marios Iliopoulos from NIGHTRAGE. I have the pleasure to present you my own “corner” at THE GALLERY Webzine, in which I will talk about many things concerning the “six string goddess”….techniques, playing styles, variable methods and explorations on the guitaristic approach of songs and many more…
The purpose of this column is do something that has never been attempted before in Greece, through which I will share with you everything I have mastered all those years through guitar learning and playing.
Each post will contain a video in which I will present a tutorial of specific “themes”, accompanied by a very brief description of the video’s contents. Any questions that may arise or any comments posted will be gladly answered and discussed through the webzine’s comment section.
So, lets do this, in the name of metal!
Kind regards,
Marios Iliopoulos

Downstrokes and Triplets Palm Muting Riffs
Hello dear metalheads! In this lesson I’m demonstrating a very well-known and needed technique for downstrokes, to execute simple metal riffs. The Concept of Legato Playing Basics
This is a great technique for guitarists to give a nice and smooth sound to their arsenal of guitar licks. The idea here on this example is that you don’t use your right picking hand at all and you use only the power of your left hand doing a lot of pull-offs (flick the string […]

(a part from NIGHTRAGE’s song “The Venomous” is arranged at this video) In this video I am using alternate picking with my right hand. Which means that I am hitting the strings alternatively with up and down strokes. That way I can play the arpeggios a lot faster. As for the chords I am using, […]
