Who would have thought that when Benjamin Buss and David Vogt decided to disband their stoner/punk rock band they had in 2003 (RED AIM) they would secure themselves a winning lottery ticket! And with continuous jackpots too! With the addition of Christian Jost on keyboards and Stefan Gemballa on drums, they only needed the correct voice on the microphone. And so, during that same year’s summer, in a small pub in the Romanian town Sighisoara, they strike a deal with Karsten Brill, who they already knew from his participation in the latest RED AIM works. They decided on the style, the concept and the image of the new band, aliases instead of names (Attila Dorn – Charles Greywolf – Matthew Greywolf – Falk Maria Schlegel – Stefane Funebre) …and this is how POWERWOLF came to life!

The rest is history for one of the biggest modern bands of the Metal genre, that only had one change in its initial composition (the replacement of Funebre by Roel Van Helden on the drums), seven studio albums, endless chart entries and recognition from the entire metal spectrum. They have been headliners in some of the biggest festivals and they have seen their fans multiply thanks to their unique live performance. To celebrate their fifteen years of existence in the music industry, they have released through their label (Napalm) this “best of” collection of sixteen songs.

Here we find great successes from their entire discography. “Saturday Satan”, “Resurrection By Erection”, “We Drink Your Blood”, “Amen & Attack”, “Armata Strigoi”, “Demons Are A Girl’s Friend”. They have included songs from all seven of their albums and this is the best thing that could happen to their new fans. Of course, most of their songs are from their three last albums, since they are the ones that have received the biggest acknowledgement. Seven of the songs have been remastered, offering something new to the listener. The only mishap is probably the cover of “Kiss Of The Cobra King” which does not do justice to the composition, since the feeling of the original song is lost.

The collection includes 14 live recorded tracks from their tour in 2018 (Wolfsnachte Tour). Even the most sceptical minds will understand the magnitude of POWERWOLF in their live performances (for those that have not seen them live yet!). A big portion of the glory they enjoy today derives from their unique shows.

A release that is addressed to their loyal fans, but a very good opportunity for new heavy metal fans (and older too) to explore how a band in such a short time managed, with hard work, to rise to the Alpha position of the “pack” and pull the strings the way they wish.
