In the shade of DIMMU BORGIR’s existence, OLD MAN’S CHILD keep on completing albums for Century Media’s necessity…However, their work cannot be characterized neither as off-handed nor as something imperceptible. Galder has shown through the years that he has a lot of inspiration which sometimes loses and other times utilizes with the best way.

In “In Defiance Of Existence” it seems that he has made use of his ideas with a very complete and kind of “back to the roots” way, reminding in many ways their second opus “The Pagan Prosperity”. “In Defiance Of Existence” could easily be described according to it’s synthetical part as a more mature “The Pagan Prosperity” with less melodies, increased aggression and finest production. The presence on Nicolas Barker in the line-up gives many credits to this release and loosens Galder’s craving for fast riffing. In a lot of songs we can find influence from DIMMU BORGIRS’s and ARCTURUS’s music, especially in the keyboards part. The production was made at studio Fredman with a sound very solid and ideal for this style. Generally, this kind of symphonic black metal isn’t something new for my ears but surely it’s very professional and worth your attention.
