We have already said it many times about the Greek metal scene, let us not repeat the same things again, except that the more you look for it, the more it continues to surprise you pleasantly! Such a pleasant surprise comes from H2OCEAN’s brand new album entitled “The Horned Goddess”. This is the debut album of the band and is essentially the personal work of George Katsamakis, who is also the guitarist and the only composer and lyricist. It took a period of four years to finish the writing process of the album until, finally, George was accompanied by other local musicians to record it. It will be released officially on September 25.

Musically the album is a part of the Thrash Metal genre and, if we want to analyze it more, a part of Groove Thrash Metal. This, on one hand means the rough, straightforward music (that characterizes the genre), but on the other hand it combines some more modern directions that ultimately make the album more melodic and not just pure Thrash Metal. The vocals also have the characteristic brutal aesthetics of the genre. Overall, it may remind you of the modern SEPULTURA.

Special mention and something that makes this debut stand out, must be done in the lyrical part. In the name of the group, we see the chemical element of water standing out. In the lyrics of the album, it is understood why. This is an album that aims to raise awareness about the environmental catastrophe and the evil that man causes in the environment. In the “Horned Goddess” we can read about humans’ bad choices in the management of our earth’s heritage. It is a reminder and a warning at the same time about the need to stop destroying our earth (and consequently us) and to try to save it, while it can still be saved.

So here we find a debut album with interesting music, even more interesting in terms of meanings and definitely a first attempt that cannot go unnoticed. Already waiting for the next and maybe even more mature work of the band.
