GOATWHORE is coming from New Orleans, being from the early years in the field of Extreme Metal as the band’s creation was in 1997 by Sammy Pierre Duet (who has served in bands such as EYEHATEGOD, CROWBAR, ACID BATH) and by L. Ben Falgoust II (who is the singer of the awesome SOILENT GREEN). The band’s discography includes seven full length albums (including this year’s release) and two splits, while its career so far can be characterized as more than remarkable, as each of those releases is qualitative. So, in 2022 GOATWHORE returns with the album entitled «Ange ls Hung from the Arches of Heaven» which includes twelve compositions of evil Blackened Thrash Metal.

After a short intro, the album starts furiously with the song «Born of Satan’s Flesh”, whose title can perfectly describe the atmosphere of this new album. Heading on with two great compositions for the band’s discography as “The Bestowal of Abomination” and the self-titled track combine aggression with dark melodies, forcing us to realize this greatness! In “Death from Above” and “Ruinous Liturgy” GOATWHORE raises the speeds with Punk/Harcore influences, while the breakdown of “Death from Above” is devastating.

“Victory Is The Lightning Of Destruction” moves in a more mid-tempo path and stands out for its groove, while “Voracious Blood Fixation” will evolve from its halfway into a Black/Thrash Metal storm. “The Devil’s Warlords” reveals the band’s love for Death Metal. As for “Weight Of A Soulless Heart”, it starts with Norwegian Black Metal aura and afterwards it transforms into a Sludge musical creation, proving the ability of GOATWHORE to write compositions with a personal imprint. Back to Blackened Thrash rhythms with “Nihil”, with a crushing breakdown taken right from the heart of SLAYER, a song which also lead us one step closer to the end of this new blasphemous creation by GOATWHORE. Epilogue with “And I Was Delivered From The Wound Of Perdition” which, in its six minutes of duration mixes Black Metal with Sludge, delivering us a great composition taken from the innermost souls combining a chilling atmosphere.

GOATWHORE΄s return is a real storm, as they offer us a very strong album, clearly superior from its predecessor, with some of the best compositions they have written during their career. The band manages to combine Thrash, Black, Death and Sludge Metal in a unique way, while the double vocals of Sammy and Ben Falgoust give a special character to the compositions. The fans of the band already know. As for the others, make a gift to yourself and, after buying “Angels Hung From The Arches Of Heaven ” dig in to the rest of the band’s discography. Once again New Orleans creates a miracle and presents us another sweeping album of the underground Extreme Metal scene, straight from the wild swamplands of Louiziana!
