Having already released an EP in 2019 and while they work on their new album (it is ready and will be released in 2020), CRO-MAGS decide to give us another sample of their work. This new EP released in December via Arising Empire in 7”EP format is called “From the Grave” and contains three new songs.

The first two songs capture what the CRO-MAGS know to do best. They write beautiful old-school Hardcore songs with lots of metal influences that are ideal for playing live causing the appropriate reactions from the audience. The first song of the EP features MOTORHEAD’s Phil Campbell. The big surprise is the third song “Between Wars” which is instrumental and is included in the soundtrack of the movie with the same name. It’s an almost six-minute atmospheric jam including Carlos “Lamont” Cooper, a street musician playing cello who was discovered by Harley in the New York subway. It’s a very good composition, very different from the songs usually written by CRO-MAGS. For the sound, the performance and everything else you can read what I wrote about “Don’t Give In” EP.

To tell you the truth, I don’t see a reason for releasing two EPs in such a short time and CRO-MAGS has done that! That’s why I wanted to give a lower rate. But that last song made me give a rating that I initially had in mind.

Rating: 7/10
