The return of the well-known and beloved to all of us ABBATH, with his second album, three years after his debut. Since 2016, a lot has changed. First the band’s members as Abbath changed all the previous persons of the group and secondly, last year his previous band IMMORTAL released the great record “Northern Chaos Gods”, so comparisons will be inevitable.

The truth is that I was waiting for the album with great agony. Unfortunately I was disappointed to a large extent. I’ve also heard the disc several times to be sure of my judgement and every time I hear it, I confirm how mediocre and indifferent is. The songs are of lower quality comparing to those of the first album and they sound confused and almost the same. They give me the idea that those songs are compositions that left outside the “Abbath” album and were gathered in order to constitute the second record.

I am sure that the well-known and “valid” metal sites will deify the album but the reality is different. The album is a lower synthetic repetition of the first disc and the only two decent songs and the nice BATHORY cover cannot save the situation. When you are Abbath with all this history and journey in Black Metal, creating albums that are distinguished for their sloppy, does not flatter you at all and you continue to feed those who believed all those years that Demonaz was (and is) the soul of IMMORTAL and that Abbath, as a composer, has no potential.
